About the project

The creator of the Pipe Organs of Serbia Database is Zoltán Borbély, organist and organ professor at the Academy of Arts Novi Sad, who in 2019, using his own resources, commissioned the creation of the first website and admin panel available in four languages. In 2020, he uploaded the first data based on written sources and his own notes. In autumn 2022, during an extensive fieldwork project, Borbély digitised all pipe organs located in the Republic of Serbia, and after processing and uploading the collected data, the first organ database containing up-to-date images, audio and information materials was completed in 2023. In 2024, the website became available in six languages (Serbian, Croatian, Slovak, Hungarian, German, English), which made the involvement of native professional proofreaders necessary. You can read more about them under the Project Team menu.

The current, modern website was completed in December 2025.

Due to a lack of financial resources, our project is not yet fully completed: many entries still require further on-site and archival research, and a complete proofreading of all textual materials in six languages has not been possible.

If you notice any errors on the website, please inform the project manager at the following e-mail address: z.borbely.organ@gmail.com

The permanent partner of the Pipe Organs of Serbia Database project is the Cor Jesu Foundation based in Senta.
